Investigation Strategies of the Micro-InVivo® Testing System
Targeted
(Predictive) Approach
The MIV test system is designed to address a predefined biological target or mechanism, such as mitochondrial function or specific signaling pathways. The experimental design is "hypothesis-driven", focusing measurement and analysis strictly on the chosen endpoint. This enables rapid, targeted evaluation of compound efficacy or toxicity with high specificity and reproducibility.

Serendipity-based
(Phenomenon-driven) Approach
The system applies a holistic, real-time monitoring strategy, observing a wide spectrum of micro-animal responses during treatment. Here, the "follow the phenomenon" principle guides the process: exploring emerging phenomena directs further investigation. This adaptive, modular workflow enables the exploration of unexpected effects and novel mechanisms, progressing from broad observation towards specific mechanisms of action insights.

In our in-house developed multispecies model system, using species-weighted formulation of the investigated biological parameters, we calculate a synchronized and unified Micrometazoa Impact Factor, thereby mapping the highest possible level of biological relevance. Every component of the system is internationally validated and accepted in publications.
